Silent Auction vs. Auction
Silent auction
- Items valued at less than $100
are bid on through a silent
auction. You write your bid on a
clipboard placed near the item.
The highest bid wins the item.
The auction ends on Friday, the
1st.
Auction
- Items valued at more than $100
are bid on by going to a
volunteer, who records your bid
in a book and the bid is placed
on a white board. On Dec. 1st,
the auction goes "live." The
highest bid is announced, and
the audience members bid on the
item as you would in a regular
auction. "Going once, going
twice, sold to the highest
bidder." Anyone bidding during
the weeks leading up to the
auction is invited to attend the
live auction on Friday night.
